One of the taglines for this event was, "Glory Bound." There was nothing glorious about this one as Dusty Rhodes tries to out-shine the main event cage match by going for the United States Title in a cage right before it. Ron Garvin was also the defending World Champion, and he couldn't draw flies if he was rolled in cow crap. The Rock 'n' Roll Express vs. Midnight Express match should have been great, but it was put on a stupid scaffold. Terry Taylor had to do some heavy lifting in the TV Title match against Nikita Koloff. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and Barry Windham even stunk up the joint with a fairly boring encounter for the UWF World Title. The Road Warriors, in their kayfabe hometown, also get screwed by an infamous Dusty Finish that pretty much kills Chicago for JCP forever. Two other "major" things happened on this show, as Bill Watts' UWF was recently bought out by Jim Crockett and they combined as The Wrestling Network (TWN) and had multiple Title Unification matches on this show. Also, this was the first year that the WWF ran Survivor Series and put it on free TV to go against Starrcade on pay-per-view. Because of that, starting in 1988, Starrcade was moved to December. In the news, we cover WCCW and AWA trying to hang on by the thinnest of threads, the NWA's business tanking, multiple hirings, firings, and quittings, and Uncle Dave Meltzer giving a hilarious bad take on Ron Simmons, plus much more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices. Getting close to the end of 1989, Ric Flair and Terry Funk brought their blood feud to a close with an awesome I Quit match in Troy, New York. Will Terry Funk or Ric Flair utter the words, "I quit" out loud and sacrifice their pride? Also, the Fabulous Freebirds take on the Road Warriors to open the show, Woman and Doom continue their persuit of the Steiner Brothers, the Midnight Express hooks it up with the Dynamic Dudes (Johnny Ace is gonna want to oil the tan pecks of Sweet Stan and Beautiful Bobby), Lex Luger defends the US Title against Flyin' Brian, and much more! Also, in the news, the NWA may bring in a failed basketball player to be their "new Andre the Giant" (because that always goes well), Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard are heading back to the NWA (yeah...about that...), Verne Gagne proves he's a gigantic jerk, and plenty more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices. It's crazy to think about Ric Flair being "the young, up-and-coming, next big thing" in wrestling, but in 1983, he was! This show was possibly the only time Jim Crockett beat Vince McMahon as he got a big, annual, tent-pole event to closed circuit before the WWF did with WrestleMania. A lot of the matches on this show were throw-aways, but we've got some big match-ups as well. Roddy Piper and Greg Valentine battle it out in a Dog Collar match, which co-host Greg deems "the REAL most dangerous match in wrestling," the Briscos (Jack & Jerry) defend their Tag Titles against Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood, and of course, Harley Race defends the NWA World Heavyweight Title against Ric Flair in the steel cage main event match. Also, in the news, we talk about Vince McMahon trying to steal Harley away before this big show, WCCW running a Thanksgiving Star Wars event the same day as Starrcade, and much more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices. WWE was floundering a bit, as far as money and ratings, in the fall of 2002. However, they were pumping out banger after banger on PPV. This was no exception! Raw GM Eric Bischoff introduced the brand new Elimination Chamber at this event and said that the World Heavyweight Title would be on the line in the hellacious match. Also on the card, Trish Stratus and Victoria do battle in a Hardcore match for the Women's Title, the Cruiserweight Title is on the line as Jamie Noble defends against Billy Kidman, we get a 6-Man Tag Team Tables Elimination match to open the show, 3 teams with 6 of the best wrestlers in the world fight for the WWE Tag Titles, and much more! Also, in the news, we discuss the ongoing financial issues with the WWE, TNA keeping Vince Russo around, the World Wildlife Fund continues their lawsuits with the WWE, and much more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices. Sting has been promising a SURPRISE tag-team partner to take on the team of Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash. He also promised that his partner is someone from Kurt Angle's past who he rubbed the wrong way. That man...was Booker T. The rest of the show was hit-or-miss. It started rough with Shop of Horrors match where we were introduced to Rellik (which, of course, is "Killer" spelled backwards), but we pick it up with a tag match after that, a good X-Division Title match later on, the over-the-hill Steiner Brothers get a Tag Title match, an amazing ladder match gets ALL THE STARS, Robert Roode tears it up with Samoa Joe, plus much more. Also, in the news, a legend has passed away, matches get announced for Survivor Series, WWE cleans some house, John Cena has a negative run-in with CNN, there's some cross-over between WWE and Ghost Hunters with hilarious results, Lex Luger is in bad shape, and much more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices. Trying to out do the WWF's Royal Rumble, WCW had 3 rings, 60 men, and 3 giants. This certainly was a spectacle that was something to behold. Most of the rest of the show was actually one of the better shows of all of 1995, having Ric Flair vs. Sting, Johnny B. Badd vs. DDP, an awesome Joshi tag match, and Chris Benoit vs. Kensuki Sasaki for the US Title. Of course, it was 1995, so we also had to sit through Big Bubba Rogers vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan in a Taped Fists match and a bad match between Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. We also had a babyface Hulk Hogan being a huge heel on this show by cutting an entire promo lying to the fans about Savage's injury, trashing a dirt sheet, and then at the end of the showing, crying and whining because he didn't win. 1995 was weird. In the news, we talk about a new wrinkle in the WWF Steroid Trial, the WWF getting edgier, Sabu having to pay to find out he was fired, and an MMA show being booted from New York City only to hold it at a secret venue with a secret crowd...and it sucked. The very first ever TNA Bound for Glory took place in 2005 and even though it was dubbed as the company's biggest show of the year, not everything was a hit. One major miss was putting Jeff Jarrett against Kevin Nash in the main event. Jeff Jarrett just screwed Raven out of the World Title and Raven was kept away from the main event. Meanwhile, Kevin Nash got legitimately sent to the hospital, leaving Jarrett without an opponent. That lead to this becoming the night of...Rhino...for whatever reason. Also on this card, the Ultimate X match plays host to a pretty bad botch. Samoa Joe has a pretty good match with Jushin Thunder Liger. AMW defends the NWA Tag Titles against the Naturals...again. There's a fairly entertaining Monster's Ball. We also get the return of a legendary tag-team. In the news, a Midwest wrestling legend has passed away, Jim Ross may be gone from the WWE as the McMahons make an offer to a possible replacement, Team 3D isn't pleased about losing a trademark battle, and Ken Shamrock continues his MMA downfall.ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices. On October 11, 1999, this was Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation planting their flag at midfield on WCW's home turf. WCW Nitro had packed out the Georgia Dome multiple times in the past, but now, the WWF was bringing their flagship show, Raw is War, to the Dome and laughing at the miserable state of their competition. Stone Cold Steve Austin was back from getting hit by a car and he sees red while going after WWF Champion, Triple H. All things are not great between tag partners, X-Pac and Kane. Mark Henry is going through sex therapy (yes, really). Chyna is gearing up to face Jeff Jarrett in a Good Housekeeping Match at No Mercy (again, yes, really). Also, this show ends with a giant pile of crap. And no, that's not hyperbole. Meanwhile, in the news, Gorilla Monsoon has died. Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara quit the WWF and head for WCW. The British Bulldog is back in WWF. There are more lawsuits and drama between the WWF and the Hart Family over Owen Hart's passing. This and much more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices. It was the best of times...it was the worst of times. We've got one of the greatest matches in WCW history and possibly one of the worst in WCW history, both on the same card. Troy & Greg will gleefully talk all about Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Eddie Guerrero as well as Hollywood Hogan vs. Roddy Piper in a steel cage. Also, we cover Macho Man vs. DDP in a Las Vegas Sudden Death match, Scott Hall, Eric Bischoff, and Larry Zbyszko continuing their weird feud, Sting is banned from the building, a fan (Real or fake? You decide!) jumps into the cage, and much more! Also, in the news, we cover WCW being white hot in 1997, Eric Bischoff pissing off the locker room, when (or if) Stone Cold Steve Austin will ever wrestle again, ECW being a complete train wreck (not sure if that's news, but, whatever...), and a ton more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices. We've got a 3-man booth yet again! This time, Kyle from The Apron Bump Podcast (ApronBump.com) joins us as we go 22 years back in the past to review ECW Anarchy Rulz! Oddly enough, this was not a terrible show. Extreme Championship Wrestling broke into Minnesota with local boy, Jerry Lynn, going for the World Title in the main event against Justin Credible. Also, the FBI defends the Tag Titles against Mikey Whipwreck and Yoshihiro Tajiri. Rhino puts his TV Title on the line against Rob Van Dam. This show has some good stuff but also it's fair share of crap, which we'll DEFINITELY have fun dumping on (no pun intended). Also, in the news, ECW's TV show has tanked, Raven jumped to WWF, WCW is a confusing damn mess and a sinking ship, and a bunch of other MMA champions fight for UFC without mentioning their other accomplishments.ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS Learn more about your ad choices.
