ECW was always the "wild west" of professional wrestling. The Marks (Troy & Greg) were not fans, but they're expanding their horizons by covering this one. Rob Van Dam and Sabu (both clients of Bill Alfonso) were feuding over the TV Title. The Dudley Boyz took on Tommy Dreamer and Sandman (who was wrestling with a neck injury). Bam Bam Bigelow and New Jack brawled all over the arena. Closing the show, Al Snow gets his shot at the ECW World Heavyweight Title against Shane Douglas, who is wrestling with a laundry list of injuries. This was Al Snow's final appearance in ECW before hopping over the WWF, so he tried to make it special. It's Lockdown, where every match is held inside of a steel cage! We're going a decade back in history to when Bobby Roode was riding high as the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. He put his title on the line, in the main event, in a cage, against "The Cowboy" James Storm in Storm's hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Opening the show (for the first time ever) is Lethal Lockdown, where Team Garett faces Team Eric. The losing Bischoff is fired from TNA and can never use the Bischoff name again. Yes, this was a real stipulation. The TNA Knockouts Title and Knockouts Tag Titles are also defended in some pretty bad matches. Kurt Angle, with a bad wheel, faces Jeff Hardy, who has a chronic limp. So, that one was interesting to watch. Eric Bischoff was sent home from WCW around August of 1999, leaving the ship without a definitive captain. Vince Russo showed up in WCW in October of 1999, right before Halloween Havoc, and was gone by January of 2000, right before Souled Out. It's now April and both Bischoff and Russo were brought back by WCW management to work together after the previous regime just wasn't cutting the mustard. What's the brilliant plan here? They're basically resetting the company, starting fresh with storylines and such, stripping all champions of their titles, and holding tournaments to crown new champions. It seemed like a dumb idea at the time and it turned out to be a dumb idea in execution. Our journey through TNA's 2007 in pay-per-views continues! And this time, every single match is in a cage! Honestly, it wasn't a bad show. The two marquee matches for this one were Team 3D vs. LAX for the NWA World Tag-Team Titles in an Electrified Steel Cage match and the main event, which was Team Christian Cage vs. Team Kurt Angle in Lethal Lockdown! Team Angle recruited Jeff Jarrett, who no one on the team trusts. Will "The King of the Mountain" do what he promised and help Team Angle win, or will he turn his back on them all and face their wrath? Meanwhile, that electrified steel cage was...something. It was a spectacle. I'll tell ya that. And not in a good way. The Austin Starr/Senshi/Bob Backlund feud is miraculously STILL going on. Gail Kim takes on Jackie Moore in the 6 sides of steel. The new Christopher Daniels does battle with Jerry Lynn. We've got a 6-man X-Division Xscape match (it was fine...). Also, Chris Harris & James Storm face off in a Blindfold match. It certainly was The Usual Suspects in the two World Title matches on this show, but they were so, so good! While Triple H, John Cena, & Randy Orton fought in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Title, the Undertaker and Edge competed for the World Heavyweight Title and to see whose WrestleMania undefeated streak would stay alive. World Champion boxer, Floyd "Money" Mayweather, also steps foot into the squared circle to take on the Big Show in the biggest celebrity WrestleMania match since Lawrence Taylor battled Bam Bam Bigelow in the main event of WrestleMania XI. On top of all that, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair put his illustrious, legendary, Hall of Fame career on the line against "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels in a match that will live on in the hearts and minds of wrestling fans for eternity. The very first Clash of the Champions event happened in March of 1988 on cable TV to go head-to-head with WrestleMania IV, which was on PPV. Side-by-side, this was definitely the superior show with good matches, an amazing main event, and it launched Sting into the main event picture of the NWA. Chants of "Fire Russo!" rained down in the Impact Zone when Sting and Abyss faced off in a Last Rites match. "What is a Last Rites match?" you may ask. It's a Casket match with more steps, stupid props, and Vince Russo's messed up brain behind it. Also on this card was an X-shaped Scaffold match known as Elevation X between AJ Styles & Rhino, a Tag-Team Ghetto Brawl between Team 3D & LAX (yeah, this was stupid and racist), the continuation of the stupid story between Christy Hemme and VKM, Kurt Angle & Scott Steiner having a great match, Chris Sabin defending the X-Division Title against Jerry Lynn, & Christian Cage defending the NWA Title against Samoa Joe. Soooo it wasn't all bad. But it was fairly hilarious.
