Yee haw! This was a Dusty Rhodes creation all the way, inspired by the old west days of farmhands getting into fights at the bunkhouse. However, this show with a southern theme took place in Uniondale, New York...which is clearly well known for their cowboys. The rules of the match were "simple". You come as you are and you eliminate your opponents by throwing them out of a cage. Weird, right? Wait until you hear the Marks (Troy & Greg) lay this one out for you. There are also 3 other good matches on this card and one abysmal opener. Do you remember the Rumble? This was the final year before the women of WWE got their very own Royal Rumble match. This one was pumped up as "the biggest Rumble in WWE history" (which had been used multiple times in the past) because the Undertaker, Goldberg, and Brock Lesnar were all entries in the 30-man match. Also on this card, Charlotte Flair defended her WWE Raw Women's Title against Bayley, Kevin Owens defended the WWE Universal Title against Roman Reigns in a No Disqualification match with Chris Jericho hanging above the ring in a shark cage, and AJ Styles puts on an absolute classic with John Cena for the WWE Title in one of the best wrestling matches of the year 2017! The kick off 2007, Sting could sense "the good" within Abyss and tried to break James Mitchell's "spell" over him. Meanwhile, Christian Cage had his "problem solver" back by his side as Tomko joined TNA, and now, Christian has his eyes set on Abyss's NWA Title. This lead to the Three Way Elimination match that main events Final Resolution '07. On the undercard, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle are 1-1, both determined to break the tie in a 30-Minute Iron Man match. To open the show, AJ Styles and Rhino face off in TNA's version of a Last Man Standing match (which is basically Texas Death rules) and we also see Alex Shelley & The Austin Starr face off in the Paparazzi Championship Series finals. While 1998 on the whole was a pretty good year in wrestling (maybe one of the best), WCW was about to go on a great, great decline. Goldberg was hot as hell, he was still on his streak, he defeated Hollywood Hogan for the WCW Title in the Georgia Dome, and now, Kevin Nash was heating up right on his heels with a win at World War 3. Besides that, the nWo Black and White was feuding with the nWo Wolfpack. This show opens strong, ends SHOCKINGLY, but all in all, this may have been one of the weaker Starrcade events. Let the Marks (Troy & Greg) tell you a tale of when Chris Jericho defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock in the same night to become the 1st ever WWE Undisputed Champion. Years and years before Jericho became "Le Champion," he was just "Y2J" and hadn't quite broken into the "main event" just yet. This changed everything and solidified Jericho has a top World Title contender and actual World Champion. WCW had officially folded and this was just to pour dirt on the corpse of World Championship Wrestling and bury it forever. Sure, other WCW Titles were floating around, but they'd soon be gone as well. Ric Flair had recently popped up at 50% owner of the WWF as Shane & Stephanie McMahon had sold him their share of the company, so we're leading up to the first ever brand split of Ric Flair's Raw and Vince McMahon's SmackDown. This show was actually better than many people give it credit for. Vince Russo was all but gone from WCW at this point, but the stench remained. Ric Flair looked dead inside as he limped along as the "CEO of WCW," "Above Average" Mike Sanders was ALSO an authority figure as the Commissioner, and no one cared. Almost every match on this card felt like it should have been held on a Nitro or Thunder. Kevin Nash & DDP were teaming up as the Minimal Effort Given Squad to take on Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak for the WCW Tag Titles in another jumbled whatever of a match. The big, built-up, Straight Jacket Caged Heat main event between Booker T and Scott Steiner for the World Title even felt lacking. But don't worry. Our motto is "We watched it so that you don't have to!" and our breakdown of the utter trash that is this card will be serving you plenty of laughs for Thanksgiving.
