On November 4, 1996 on WWF Monday night Raw, Stone Cold Steve Austin didn't know who he was f***ing with (according to Brian Pillman). The story of this entire (EXTREMELY controversial) episode of Raw was that Austin felt disrespected by Pillman during the previous week's in-ring segment, he reaggravated Pillman's shattered ankle, and now, Austin was driving from the Cincinnati Airport to Brian's home to break in and beat him up...again! However, Pillman said, "When Austin 3:16 meets Pillman 9mm glock, I'm gonna blast his sorry ass straight to Hell!" The Loose Cannon was waiting with his wife, Melanie, and a loaded handgun. It's the Deadly Game, where nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted! Look, let's be honest, here...there was a ton of star power in the WWF in 1998 and they were crapping gold wherever they went. This was entertaining as all hell with a HUGE swerve at the end, but if you're looking for good wrestling, this ain't the show for you. TNA Genesis 2006, at the time, was TNA's highest selling pay-per-view domestically, selling just over 60,000 buys and beating previously set record of 55,000 at Bound For Glory 2006 (now in the archives). No doubt, this was due to everyone wanting to see Kurt Angle make his in-ring debut for TNA and have the dream match the Marks (Troy & Greg) never thought they'd see against Samoa Joe! A Night Of Terror And Suspense! This one was a pretty damn good event, but it follows a few very basic Halloween Havoc rules. 1. Rey Mysterio has an amazing match. 2. Hulk Hogan has a horrible match. 3. The event ends randomly because the timing was off. But, there were some great matches on this show, some comedic stuff to laugh at, and all-in-all, this was a fun ass show! WCCW was a "coffin on rollerskates" (to quote Tony Schiavone) in 1986 and certainly in 1988. Attendance was way down, the Von Erichs were tragically falling apart, original ideas were scarce, and the territories as a whole were just failing, miserably. However, there was SOME fun stuff (and funny stuff) to talk about from World Class in the late '80s! No Mercy was usually hit-and-miss with quality, but this one gets overlooked for how good it really was. 15 years ago, King Booker was the reigning World Champion on SmackDown!, and General Manager Theodore Long put him against 3 competitors: Batista, Bobby Lashley, and one of his own lackeys, Finlay, in a Triple Threat match. Also on this card is Undertaker vs Mr. Kennedy, London & Kendrick defending their WWE Tag-Team Titles against KC James and Idol Stevens (the future Damien Sandow), Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero in a Falls Count Anywhere match after Vickie Guerrero turned heel for the first time ever, and the return of Chris Benoit after a 5 month hiatus. It is definitely the greatest Triple Threat match of all time and is in contention for greatest match ever. Also on the card, Raven defends the NWA Title against Rhino, the Candido Cup & NWA Tag Titles are on the line in a 4-team elimination match, Abyss and Sabu try to tear each other apart in an Anything Goes match, and a young Austin Aries takes on a fresh-faced Roderick Strong.
